Ramayana Dance

"RAMAYANA" Dance
Rama, Sita and Laksamana, enter the jungle of Dandaka. Their journey has been detected by a demonic minister, Maricha of Alengka Kingdom.
King Rahwana discusses with Maricha about kidnapping the beautiful princess Sita.
But How?...

Maricha transforms himself into a deer to attract Sita. She tries to catch the beautiful golden deer but cannot. She asks Rama to catch it and bring it to her as a gift.
Rama leaves Sita under Laksamana's protection.
When Rama shoots the deer, it changes back to the real Maricha. Maricha is hurt and screaming for help. Sita hears someone screaming; must be Rama? She orders Laksamana to go and help him. Laksamana doesn’t believe it's Rama, but he traces a magic circle around Sita. "No body will be able to approach her..."

Rahwana has been watching Sita alone. After a little while, he appears as disguised an old priest, very very poor, who is begging water to drink. As soon as Sita brings water to him, Rahwana snatches Sita out of the circle and takes her.
On the way back to Rahwana's kingdom, the gigantic bird Jatayu, a friend of Rama's father, tries to rescue Sita. But in a short fight Jatayu is defeated. Before Jatayu's death, Rama and Laksamana find him and explain Sita's misadventure...

She now should be at Rahwana's Palace! Rama prays to send Jatayu to the Heaven.
Exciting appearance of white monkey warrior Hanoman with his troupe!
Rama orders him to enter the Alengka kingdom to meet Sita in exile. Rama gives his ring to Hanoman to identify his role as a true messenger. At the palace, Rahwana's niece Trijata and sympathetic attendants are trying to comfort Sita. They're suddenly disturbed by the arrival of King Rahwana. Then he forces Sita to marry him, but Trijata cajoles the king to wait until next day.

Hanoman storms into the palace. He meets Sita & Trijata and hands over the ring to Sita, In return, she give a golden flower to Hanoman. Before leaving the palace, Hanoman destroys the garden to express his anger. Demonic soldiers find Hanoman and fight with him. Hanoman defeats the guards & flies back report to Rama.

Rama sends Hanoman's troupe to attack Alengka kingdom. Rama and Rahwana fight. At last, Hanoman defeats Rahwana. Sita is released and Rama, Laksamana and Sita are happily reunited.

Story:
30 November 2010, 10 of our children got bike donation by Tirian Company who has bike competition (assemble bicycle) in Linda Garlands Estate, Nyuh Kuning, Ubud.

Our visit to Club Méditerranée, Nusa Dua, Bali

On 23rd of June 2010, we attended an event at the Club Mediterannee (Club Med), Nusa Dua. They held the event to celebrate Club Med’s children day. They shared their celebrations with us. It is one and a half hour from our Centre to that place. We left at 12.30 pm and arrived there at 2 pm. We were 70 children to go there by 2 bus which the hotel sent to pick up us at the Centre.

Beside us, there were also other children from another orphanage who attended.

We watched a first performance from a Michael Jackson impersonator. Our children were very happy to see his performance because he was dancing with humor and was very funny.

Before going swimming, we took a photo together with the General Manager (GM).

Our children who were not swimming, played football.

We had lunch after swimming and playing football. We had fried rice, fried noodles, Balinese cake, bread, ice cream, and juice and sugar flower.

After that they told us the story about the mango tree. They will plant a new mango tree. We were given a stone to write our future hopes and then we put the stones around the tree. The Mango tree will grow up to the sky; they hope that our future hope one day just like the mango tree grows.

A visit to Bali's Zoo

On 26 January 2009, we went to Bali Zoo Park. The children were very interested. They brought writing books and pens or pencils to write down animal information (name, where they come from, what they eat, and how they multiply).

Valentine's Day at the Alila Ubud from Ngurah

A bus from Alila Ubud collected us and we arrived there at 1.30 pm.
First, they gave our children name tags, ribbons to wear, tissues, and perfumed hand towels. Then we received a welcome drink of fresh juice to ease our thirst.
We began with a game. All our children made a big circle. While a ball was passed around to other friends, they sang a song. When the song finished, the child who had the ball stood in the centre of the circle.
The next game is team co-operation. They must carry a balloon over a course; the fastest team is the winner.
Then lunch time. They sat at long tables in a circle. Each child had a box lunch (burger, fried potatoes, and hamburger with a red sauce). They also had a plate of pizza to share with others at each table.
After that, we went back to the next game. The magic man was ready with his games (card, money, etc). He also taught some games to our children. Next, the balloons team made many shapes with balloons. All of our children had their requests made with balloons.
They got ice cream.
We also had face painting, or impermanent tattoo for the boys and nail paint for the girls.
The also played some games.
After that, we celebrated the winners from each of the game. Winners are Nova, Agus Murdika Yasa, Arya, Yogi, Yustikasari, Sumadi and Mega.
We closed this event by printing each of our orphan’s hand in paint on a large banner (Taman Permata Hati with Alila Ubud). Then we made photos together.
All of us enjoyed this event. We hope all sponsors can enjoy with us our story of Valentine’s Day.

Celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the centre

19 February 2009 was a very special day at Taman Permata Hati as it marked the 2nd anniversary of the Yayasan. ( Co-operative)

Whilst Kadek Suambara began his orphan support program in 1995, it was not until 19/02/07 that he was able to centralise the administration in a permanent building. So much has happened since then. The total number of orphans and disadvantaged children has more than doubled to 80+ and we now have sponsors in many countries and throughout Australia.

To celebrate the month-long school holiday, the children went to the seaside for the afternoon. They had a lot of fun. The school starts again at the end of June and we'll receive the school reports in the middle of the month.

Our visit to Puwakan

A message from Ngurah (8 June 2008):

Today our Taman Permata Hati’s children (20 children) went to Puwakan. We went there because Ibu Claire invited us. In there, we sing a song. We sing 3 songs together in front of audience.
We meet with Puwakan’s Children. After we sing a song, Puwakan’s children show a dance. Their dance was very beautiful.
We heard a story from Pak Made Taro. He is a children's book writer. We are happy.

Progress on the building project

The orphan centre is growing! A new room is being added, with a kitchen for cooking classes, a library, a courtyard and a washroom. The builders started as soon as enough funds were raised. Here are a few photos to show you the progress.

When the work is completed, there will be 2 large classrooms for classes to be held simultaneously. There will also be a quiet area in the library where children can read or do their homework. In the kitchen, the children can learn some basic cooking skills.

Fun Bike Day, 1 May 2008

On May 1st, the cildren took part in the Fun Bike Day. They had all been given a helmet to ride safely. At the end of the ride, everybody gathered at the Bale Banjar for a lucky draw. The prizes were lovely big bikes.

Ramayana Dance

On 30 May, the centre's children performed the Ramayana Dance.

This is a very popular dance in Bali, originating from the great Hindu epic danced in many episodes. One of the most famous parts tells the story of Prince Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Laksama who are banished from their kingdom and wander in the forest where they face many adventures.The younger boys, quite befittingly, danced the part of the monkeys. They roll around the stage, scratch each other and often interact playfully with the children in the audience.

At the centre, the children learn traditional Balinese dancing every week with two excellent teachers. Boys and girls take a lot of pride in learning this essential aspect of Balinese Arts.

Arya's birthday

Today, June 14th, the centre celebrated Arya's birthday. Many people attended the party: Arya's sister, Angarini and his mum, Nuli and many children from the centre. The cake looks very good!

Tomorrow, the children are going on a day trip to the beach to celebrate the start of a month-long school holiday.

Welcome to the Taman Permata Hati Orphan Day Centre's blog.

We found out about the Centre last Christmas (07) during a holiday in Ubud, Bali. We met the founder, Kadek Suambara, the children and all the wonderful people who are making the centre function everyday. We became sponsors of two of the great children the Centre helps. This blog is for them to use: children and organisers can record events and tell stories of the Centre's life on these pages to share with their sponsors and the wider community.
